Simon Allen (Chief Executive Officer)
Simon Allen is the Chief Executive Officer of Kalypsys. Mr. Allen has 17 years experience in the areas of scientific research, product development, capital markets, and business development. Last serving as the Chief Business Officer of Kalypsys, Mr. Allen has held increasing levels of responsibility at companies such as CovX, Nuvelo, SkyePharma and Gilead. He graduated from the University of Sydney with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Genetics and earned his M.B.A. from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Back to Top
Stewart Noble, Ph.D. (Sr. VP Research)
Stewart Noble is Sr. Vice President and Head of Research. Dr. Noble came to Kalypsys from Pharmacia where he served as Senior Director of Chemistry with responsibility for programs targeting arthritis, inflammation, pain and ophthalmology. Prior to joining Pharmacia, Dr. Noble’s industry experience included senior positions at G.D. Searle, Synaptic Pharmaceutical Corporation and Glaxo, Inc. He has 25 years experience in small molecule drug discovery and has contributed to the discovery and development of seventeen product candidates, including the HIV/HBV drug Epivir®. He is author or coauthor of more than 80 peer reviewed scientific papers, patents and pending applications. Dr. Noble is a member of the Board of Directors of Micell Technologies, Inc. Back to Top
Dana Zhang (Controller)
Ms. Zhang has over 10 years experience in financial modeling, strategic planning, treasury management, fiscal control and risk management. Before joining the Kalypsys team, Ms. Zhang held several key positions in publicly and privately held companies, including Cylene Pharmaceuticals Inc., Trex Enterprises Corporation, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, and Diversa Corporation. She is a certified public accountant and received a B.S. in biology from Harbin Normal University, China, and earned an M.B.A. in finance from The University of Phoenix. Back to Top
SENIOR ADVISORS
Ivan Lieberburg, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Lieberburg is a Senior Advisor and serving in the role of Chief Medical Officer to Kalypsys. Prior to working with Kalypsys, Dr Lieberburg was at the Elan Corporation for 22 years where he held a number of senior management positions, including, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, head of the Corporate Office of Technology, and Senior Vice President of Research. Prior to joining Elan in 1987, Dr. Lieberburg held faculty positions at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He received an AB from Cornell University and earned his PhD in Neurobiology from The Rockefeller University. Dr. Lieberburg was a postdoctoral fellow in Neurobiology at Rockefeller University. He earned his MD from the University of Miami. Dr. Lieberburg was also a research endocrine fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is currently a Clinical Professor of Medicine. Back to Top
Neil Reisman
Neil Reisman is a Senior Advisor having previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Kalypsys. Mr. Reisman has over 20 years of business and legal experience. Prior to Kalypsys, Mr. Reisman served as Chief Operating Officer of CovX Research LLC (until its sale to Pfizer, Inc.). In addition, Mr. Reisman has worked at various large and small companies including Amoco, Borg-Warner Security, Comdisco and Arthur Andersen. Mr. Reisman received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Back to Top
